Phillippine Passport Renewal

A passport is an identification document issued by the government that empowers a person to travel worldwide. A passport can be extended, renewed, or replaced only by the government of the country of which the passport holder is a citizen.

In the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs’ main office at Roxas, Boulevard corner, Libertad, accepts applications for passports. A person can also apply for a passport at any of its Regional Consular Offices.

For renewal of a Philippine passport, personal attendance at the passport office is not required. Any agency duly accredited with the department or a member of the family of the applicant, authorized in writing by the applicant himself, can file for renewal of a passport.

The documentation required includes three copies of recent 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm passport photographs in color with a white background. If the passport being renewed is brown, then the applicant is required to produce the old passport and a photocopy of passport pages 1, 2, and 3. These pages show the latest bureau of immigration, departure, and arrival stamps. This requirement is not necessary if the applicant appears in person.

If the passport in question is green, the applicant must submit the old passport and a photocopy of passport pages 1, 2, and 3 and of the back cover. If the applicant is not applying in person, then the pages that contain the latest bureau of immigration departure and arrival stamps are required.

If the applicant is a married woman who has adopted the surname of her husband for her new passport, she is required to produce the marriage license on the security paper issued by the national statistics office or the certified true copy of her marriage license.
